Diocese starts "Bishop's Crew" Venturing program

The Diocese of Phoenix Catholic Committee on Scouting has started a Boy Scouts of America Venturing crew. The crew is comprised of young men and women of the Catholic faith, 13-20 years old. The crew was formed to assist Bishop Olmstead in his ministry of youth. The crew will perform color guard duties and assist at other functions as requested by the bishop. When not assisting the bishop, the crew will enjoy high-adventure activities including hiking, camping, and other activities as voted on by the members. The crew was assigned the number 2009, which coincides with the 40th anniversary of the Diocese in the year 2009.

The crew meets once or twice a month at the Diocese of Phoenix Diocesan Center at 5th St. and Monroe, Phoenix, or other locations as agreed upon by the crew. The crew will be posting a calendar of events in the near future. Long term goals include a trip to Rome.
